Conservation and Socioenvironmental Development

Objectives: Investigate, evaluate, and analyze natural, rural, and urban environments in their ecological, human, social, and economic processes and dimensions from the perspective of sustainable development, including but not limited to the following themes: heritage conservation, government and territorial planning, local development, biological conservation, socioecological systems, ecosystem restoration, ecological and social processes, conservation units, environmental education, socio-economic environmental analysis, environmental law, and their implications for sustainability.

Governance, Policies, and Socioenvironmental Impacts

Objectives: Investigate, evaluate, and analyze governance and public policies related to ecosystem services, common goods and resources (such as water, forests, biodiversity, coastal zones), processes and products related to land use and their socioenvironmental impacts, socioenvironmental risks (from local to global scale), and environmental communication.

Sociotechnical Analysis and Socioenvironmental Modeling

Objectives: Investigate, evaluate, analyze, and develop models for understanding socioenvironmental and biophysical phenomena, including but not limited to biogeochemical cycles, climate change, land use and land cover dynamics, ocean dynamics, and energy transition; the socioenvironmental implications and their indicators and impacts at various scales and levels associated with technological advancements and environmental dynamics. Utilization of engineering tools, innovations, and geotechnologies for environmental analysis.
